Stephen Hawking has got nothing on 2%. My MS Paint skills are unrivaled (Noah).
Mi nombre es Tim Barnhart. Fellow thru-hikers call me “2%”, a trail-name I earned on my 2012 thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail. I am a STEM nerd from rural Appalachia. All 8 lbs 14 oz of me came screaming into this world a few decades ago. Thanks mom (and dad)! I am passionate about a number of things. In no particular order; STEM, music, french fries, hiking, R & D, and juicy pear jelly bellies. I earned my B.S. in Materials Science & Engineering from Virginia Tech in 2006. In my career I’ve had the opportunity to develop patents, travel all over the world, build departments from the ground up, and encourage others to continue their education. I feel mentoring others about their ability to further their education is by far my biggest and most rewarding accomplishment. I want to continue this passion and couple it with business and crowd-sourced funds to directly aid rural Appalachian students interested in STEM. After earning my MBA from Miami University in 2017, I can now see it through and hope that everyone else can see the value in my proposition. Help yourself by helping the future generation. Check out the non-profit my friends and I founded.
